Policara

Privacy Policy Generator

Tell us what you built — your platform, dependencies, or tech stack — and Policara writes a privacy policy that covers the laws that actually apply to your business. Every clause cites the regulation it was written to address (GDPR Art. 13, CCPA § 1798.100…) so you can check the text against the law it names. Privacy policies are free — three generations, no card required.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a privacy policy on my website?
Yes, if you collect any personal data from users — including email addresses, analytics cookies, or contact forms. GDPR requires it for any website with EU visitors; CCPA applies to California businesses above certain thresholds; and most US states have their own requirements. In most cases even a small portfolio site using Google Analytics needs one.
Do I need a privacy policy if I don't collect data?
Probably yes. Analytics tools (including 'privacy-friendly' ones), CDNs, and hosting providers often collect IP addresses and request logs even if you never add a form. A privacy policy should describe what your infrastructure collects, not just your app logic.
Is a privacy policy legally required?
Under GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA (California), and a growing list of other US state privacy laws, yes. The exact requirements depend on your business size, location, and where your users are. Policara detects which of the 8 US state laws and 6 international frameworks it covers apply to you automatically.
Can ChatGPT write a privacy policy?
It can generate generic legal-sounding text, but it doesn't know which laws apply to your specific tech stack, jurisdiction, or data practices. A ChatGPT policy won't cite GDPR Article 13 correctly for your use case, won't know that Stripe requires specific payment-data disclosures, and gives you no way to verify coverage.
How long does it take to generate a privacy policy?
About three minutes. Tell us your platform or paste your dependency file, confirm your markets, and we generate a compliance-scored document with citations — no legal knowledge required.
