Terms of Service

1. The service

Policara is an AI-powered legal document generator that creates privacy policies, terms of service, and cookie policies based on information you provide about your product. The documents and any compliance information are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute legal advice.

2. No warranty of compliance

While we strive to generate documents that address applicable privacy laws, we do not guarantee that any generated document is legally sufficient for your specific situation. The accuracy of the output depends on the accuracy of the information you provide. You are responsible for reviewing the generated documents and, where appropriate, consulting a qualified attorney before relying on them.

3. Your account

Policara accounts are created by verifying your email address with a sign-in link — no password is required. An account is needed to generate documents so your work is saved to your dashboard and a copy can be emailed to you. You are responsible for keeping access to your email inbox secure, since it is used to sign in.

4. Plans and pricing

Policara is offered on a free plan and on paid subscription plans:

• Free — $0 forever — Three document generations in total (a lifetime allowance, not monthly), privacy policies only, EU and US coverage, PDF export.
• Pro — $9 USD/month — Unlimited documents, all three document types, every jurisdiction we cover, all export formats, and hosted policy pages — subject to a fair-use cap of 50 generations per day.

Prices are stated in US dollars. Sales tax, VAT or GST may be added at checkout depending on where you are; the total you will be charged is shown before you confirm payment. We may change plan prices, and any change to the price of an existing subscription will be notified to you by email before it takes effect.

5. Billing and automatic renewal

Paid plans are subscriptions. They are charged in advance on the day you subscribe and renew automatically each month at the then-current price, on the same day of the month, until you cancel. Payment is taken from the payment method you provide at checkout.

If a renewal payment fails, the subscription is retried and you will be contacted. While a subscription is past due or paused, paid features are unavailable and your account is treated as being on the Free plan until payment is recovered. Documents you have already generated are not affected.

6. Cancellation

You can cancel at any time from your dashboard using Manage billing, which opens the customer portal hosted by our reseller. Cancelling stops future renewals; your paid access continues until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, after which your account returns to the Free plan. There is no cancellation fee, and cancelling does not delete documents you have already generated.

7. Refunds

We offer a full refund within 14 days of a first purchase. After that window we do not refund partial billing periods. The full terms, including how to request a refund and what happens to your documents, are set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms.

8. Merchant of record

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle handles all billing enquiries and returns.

9. Acceptable use

You agree to:

• Use the service lawfully and in accordance with these terms.
• Provide accurate information about your product when using the intake wizard.
• Not attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the service.
• Not use the service to generate documents for illegal or fraudulent purposes.

10. Intellectual property

Your documents: You own the legal documents generated for you. Policara does not claim any ownership over your generated output.

Our service: The Policara platform, including its design, code, compliance knowledge base, and AI prompts, is our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the platform itself.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Policara and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to any legal consequences from relying on generated documents without independent legal review.

Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.

12. Data and privacy

Your use of Policara is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
